The Innerarity Island Preservation Foundation was founded as a Florida Registered not for profit in 2022 as a part of a multi-year plan envisioned by community residents, our conservation land trust partner and Escambia County, Florida staff as to allow the transfer, protection and management of land parcels that are deemed critical to the natural ecosystem of the areas in and around Innerarity Island.
These land parcels hold many species of animal, bird and reptile wildlife along with countless plant and tree species, some of which are considered protected.
This is a unique land area that is within a residential community in which the residents have voted and embraced the concept to conserve and preserve the natural ecosystem in which we all live among. It is a rare and precious gift that a community has decided to protect its wildlife and natural resources as opposed to benefit from the sale of such land for development.
The Foundation consists of board members that are residents and or direct contributors for the vision of preservation of the land. In another rare case, our community residents show an deep passion for living among nature and protecting such animals as the red fox, deer and even feral cats.
Our residents also are very active in volunteerism for help into managed and act as stewards for the conservation efforts of the Foundation.
We have partnered with Conservation Florida as our land trust and conservation easement provider as well have established academic relationships with the University of West Florida that opens these lands up to their environment studies program students for projects and research options.
Academic Studies Partnerships are welcomed and are energetically embraced by our Foundation and the community as a whole.
We have open access to academic studies programs and students of University of West Florida.
If you are interested academic or ecological studies within the land the Foundation manages please let us know via our Contact us page!
